Mission Statement

The mission of Dismas House New Mexico is to assist motivated adults on probation and parole to transition successfully into society.

Our Vision

Dismas House is a beacon of hope and safe passage for adults transitioning from jail or prison into society. We are dedicated to serving ex-offenders and we see the hope and potential for good in each of our residents.

We believe in second chances…

Over the years, we have helped over 700 parolees to transition successfully into society and have been able to expand our program with the generous help of the community.

Currently we have an 8-bed women’s program and an 18 bed men’s program located in various residential neighborhoods in Albuquerque.

Our program is unique in that we (1) only operate residential homes, (2) employ a family oriented approach, and (3) have volunteers cook and share dinner with our residents four nights a week.

Dismas Life by Design is a state-of-the-art, evidenced-based occupational therapy program.

Our approach is innovative, experience-based and highly successful. In New Mexico, 46% of parolees will commit a new felony and return to prison within three years of their release.

In contrast, the recidivism rate for Dismas House graduates is 10%. An investment in Dismas House makes “people sense”.

We don’t guarantee success… but we do promise our residents an opportunity of a lifetime and a second chance!

Welcome to Dismas House New Mexico…

For over 15 years we have been a safe place of transition for men and women on probation and parole.   We fundamentally believe in the power of second chances and the restorative nature of forgiveness.  Dismas House works in partnership with our community, people of faith, volunteers, donors and foundations to provide programing that invites and supports change and re-integration back into our community.

For most of our residents change is not easy but staying on the same path is not possible… they have lived enough dead-ends and they have felt the impact of their bad decisions.  They see Dismas House as a bridge of hope and with hard work and lots of dedication, dreams are possible.

I am humbled to serve this mission and blessed to see the daily transformation that is possible when we offer second chances to people who want to change.

Thank you for supporting our mission!
